Active Ingredients & Strength
- Articaine Hydrochloride (4%): An amide-type local anesthetic that prevents sodium ion influx during nerve action potentials, stopping the transmission of pain signals.
- Epinephrine (1:100,000): A vasoconstrictor added to narrow local blood vessels. It slows the entry of the anesthetic into general circulation, prolongs the numbing effect, and controls minor surgical bleeding.
Key Clinical Properties
- Onset of Action: Very rapid, typically taking 1 to 3 minutes to numb the target area after injection.
- Duration: Provides clinical anesthesia lasting up to 75 minutes per cartridge.
- Administration Routes: Delivered by dental professionals through intraoral submucosal infiltration or local nerve blocks.
- Elimination Half-Life: Extremely short at approximately 25 minutes, meaning the body breaks it down and eliminates it quickly.
